GEORGE HOYNINGEN-HUENE
PORTRAIT OF ELSA SCHIAPARELLI
1932
This portrait of Elsa Schiaparelli by George Hoyningen-Huene features one of the dresses from her Autumn 1932 Haute Couture collection, which was one of her greatest successes in the early 1930s.
The dress, shaped like a garden apron and falling to the ankles, is made of white waxed jersey, with thin straps that cross at the back and small braided leather pockets at the front. It is worn under a white rooster feather boa-scarf.
