ALBERTO GIACOMETTI
LIGHT COLUMN
1935
In 1935, Elsa Schiaparelli established her fashion house in the Hôtel de Fontpertuis, at the legendary address of 21 Place Vendôme. She commissioned Jean-Michel Frank for the interior design and entrusted Alberto Giacometti with the creation of certain pieces, including this column-floor lamp with a plaster shell. He also created bronze floor lamps for Schiaparelli, as well as plaster vases, chandeliers, and candlesticks.
To this day, Schiaparelli remains the only French Haute Couture House on Place Vendôme, and Giacometti columns still decorate its salons.
