In his painting La Femme aux Etoiles (“Woman and Stars”), the painter Kees van Dongen depicts an ensemble of a sheath dress and Venetian cape with large hood from the Schiaparelli Autumn 1935 Haute Couture collection.
This design of Elsa Schiaparelli's was such a success that it was worn by three of the best-dressed women in Paris during a reception on the occasion of the Interallié Prize. The cape was made in an exclusive Schiaparelli fabric, the Simoun, a crinkled silk taffeta.
