DANIEL ROSEBERRY

CREATIVE DIRECTOR

Daniel Roseberry was born in 1985 in Plano, Texas. The son of a priest and an artist, he and his three siblings were raised in a deeply religious family, and he even considered entering the seminary himself for a time; indeed, after high school, he traveled the world on Christian missions to Hawaii, Jordan, Pakistan, and various parts of Israel. Upon returning to the United States, he enrolled at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, which he left after two years to begin working at Thom Browne, the New York-based tailoring house.

During his ten years at Thom Browne, which expanded to encompass both menswear and womenswear collections, Roseberry rose to become head of design. In 2019, he took on the role of Creative Director at Maison Schiaparelli, the renowned Parisian couture house. During his tenure at Schiaparelli, Roseberry revived some of the House's most influential codes while paying homage to Elsa's celebrated love of Surrealism. At the same time, he subverted many of these codes, contributing to a new aesthetic grammar through the frequent use of gold jewelry and metalwork, upcycled denim, and molded leather and metal breastplates and anatomical parts. Like Elsa herself, known for her technical innovations, Roseberry is particularly interested in experimenting with new and unexpected fabrics and continually pushes the boundaries of what couture can—or should—be.
