Elsa Schiaparelli was the first designer to give a theme to her collections. The Astrological collection of Winter 1938/39 was inspired by starry nights, the Milky Way, the Sun King, constellations, astronomy and astrology. As a child, she was very fond of her famous astronomer uncle, Giovanni Schiaparelli (who discovered the canals on Mars). As explained in her autobiography Shocking Life, her uncle described the beauty spots on her left cheek as resembling the constellation Ursa Major.
Today, Schiaparelli presents the Zodiac clutch reworking the house’s symbols of Ursa Major and astrological signs. Made-to-order so that one can have its own sign embroidered, it comes in midnight blue double satin highlighted by luminescent embroideries of crystals, caviar beads, golden metal plate and silver thread. True to its original astrological motif once again embroidered by Lesage, the clutch is framed in hammered metal with a golden retractable chain.
Sun, moon, stars and Ursa Major align with your own glyph of the zodiac on this ultimate evening accessory.
Exclusively available at Schiaparelli salons-boutique, 21 place Vendôme.
