Throughout her entire life, Elsa Schiaparelli has been an independent strong woman and a daring creative force.
Her innovative ideas led her to establish Schiaparelli as an iconic fashion brand in less than 30 years.
From her inventive imagination and revolutionary visions on sportswear, Haute Couture, art, ordinary-elements-turned-into-elaborate creations, prints, colors, shapes, fashion and fragrances, the House of Schiaparelli has commissioned Dutch film maker Christian Borstlap to re-interpret the essence of Elsa Schiaparelli’s famous firsts into a contemporary animated film.
In keeping with a series of homages dedicated to the personality and the style of Elsa, the House of Schiaparelli has invited Monsieur Christian Lacroix to create a unique collection.
These 18 silhouettes will be presented next July during Haute Couture week.

This tribute in July 2013 will be followed by several other contributions showcasing the talents of artists of various fields. Each rendez-vous dedicated to Elsa will be a testimony to the strength of her personality and the wide scope of her aesthetic imprint passed down to current generations. Carte blanche will be given to these artistic reinterpretations celebrating a myth that has remained contemporary.
The « Schiaparelli and Prada exhibition: Impossible Conversations » is opening its doors today at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. These“impossible” conversations offer a new reading of the innovations by two fashion icons.
The scenography presents the Elsa Schiaparelli myth, from her collaborations with the Surrealist movement up until her most emblematic creations, such as the teardress printed in a trompe l’oeil motif, the shoe-hat or the bug-necklace.
2012 marks the second life of the House of Schiaparelli.
The iconic couture house created by Elsa Schiaparelli is given a new life ready to convey its unique spirit where Haute Couture rhymes with art, innovation, know-how, quality and audacity.
In 2006, the archives and the rights of Schiaparelli were bought back in order to prepare the reopening of the couture house, next July, located at 21 place Vendôme, the very place where Elsa Schiaparelli had left it.
The July inauguration will unveil the hôtel particulier known as Hôtel de Fontpertuis at 21 place Vendôme, that will welcome once again the creative studio, the atelier, the couture salons as well as the offices.
A collection in tribute to Elsa Schiaparelli will soon be announced before the nomination of a creative director in charge of the Haute Couture and Prêt-à-Couture collections. Perfumes will follow in the near future.
