SALVADOR DALI
“SHOCKING RADIANCE” BY SCHIAPARELLI
1943
While both were in exile in New York during World War II, Elsa Schiaparelli and Salvador Dali continued their collaboration through works intended to illustrate Schiaparelli's Shocking Radiance cosmetics line.
Dali then painted surreal scenes, some of which were influenced by Botticelli. These were printed on product labels, packaging, and advertisements.
The first work, dating from 1943, illustrates the bottles and advertising campaign for the launch of the Shocking Radiance line of oils, which was launched in the United States. Subsequently, the line was expanded with other products that also featured works by Dalí created exclusively for Schiaparelli.
