In 1938, the painter and illustrator Christian Bérard designed three models for Schiaparelli's Astrological Collection. He drew inspiration from the Three Graces painted by Raphael in The Judgment of Paris. The central figure wears a shocking pink silk cape, the back of which is embroidered with a solar figure, known as the Phoebus cape. The sun, a celestial body of light, is also the emblem of Louis XIV, who commissioned the Place Vendôme. This motif can also be found on the balustrades of the square's windows.

Elsa Schiaparelli held her friend Christian Bérard, known as "Bébé," in high esteem. She wrote of him in Shocking Life, "To be approved, admired, sometimes loved by Bébé, was a consecration in the artistic, intellectual, and social circles of Paris."
