DANIEL ROSEBERRY IS APPOINTED ARTISTIC DIRECTOR OF THE SCHIAPARELLI HOUSE
Born in Texas and aged 33, Daniel Roseberry, who spent more than 10 years alongside Thom Browne at the head of the men's and women's collections, will instill in the House of Place Vendôme a bold and avant-garde creative vision, as did, in her time, its founder Elsa Schiaparelli whose extraordinary creative legacy is rooted in the history of fashion.
“It is an honor and a great joy to pick up where Ms. Schiaparelli left off some 85 years ago. Schiaparelli was an expert in modernity; her work reflected the chaos and hope of the turbulent period in which she lived. Today, we too find ourselves facing similar questions that shape our identity: What does art look like? What is identity? How do we dress for the end of the world?”
Schiaparelli answered these questions with candor and humor, but perhaps one of his greatest legacies is his commitment to fantasy, his understanding that we need fantasy in complicated times. I want to offer my own answers to these questions and propose a fantasy—a dream—that seems relevant and necessary today.
"It is a privilege for me to collaborate with the remarkable talents of the Schiaparelli atelier, respecting the traditions of Haute Couture, to carry the legend and myth of this historic House into the future," said Daniel Roseberry.
Diego Della Valle, owner of Maison Schiaparelli, stated , "I am delighted to welcome Daniel Roseberry to Maison Schiaparelli. His modern and innovative creative vision and his many talents will allow the House to develop all of its activities while respecting the unique heritage that has made Schiaparelli a revolutionary brand."
