Schiaparelli “Constellation” necklace
1939
In the Dreams of Venus pavilion at the New York World's Fair, Dali put the “Constellation” necklace from the Schiaparelli Summer 1939 Haute Couture collection on a nude model. Made of candy-colored astronomical necklace of Galatith stars, the necklace belonged to Gala.
The photographer Horst P. Horst took a series of photographs of the naked model wearing the necklace. Dali then draw on the image with ink, transforming the young woman into a surrealist mermaid
