In 1933, Elsa Schiaparelli posed for the artist-decorator Jean Dunand.

In this portrait, she wears style “N°102”, one of several immensely successful pieces from the Autumn 1933 Haute Couture collection.

The shoulders of this evening dress displayed graphic and sophisticated workmanship. It was produced in Rayesca, one of Schiaparelli's exclusive fabrics, a matte crepe with pansy blue chevrons.
