The photographer Horst P. Horst took several photographs of this legendary style from the Schiaparelli Spring 1947 Haute Couture collection.
This evening ensemble consisted of a black short full skirt worn with a fitted peplum-waist jacket in black crepe enhanced with a facing in shocking pink taffeta over-embroidered with black jet foliage. The facing continued at the back to finish in a big pouf bow. In the February 1947 issue of Vogue, it was described as “the quintessence of her design style”.
